Contemporary Seascapes

Contemporary Seascapes The magnificent oceans cover over 70% of our planet earth’s surface and control our daily weather systems.  Full of energy and mystery, from the gentle rolling of the waves to the to the power of the tsunami, filled with tropical corals, unusual sea creatures and deep mysteries. Do you ever wonder what is out there, deep in the dark underwater worlds, surviving the cold and hiding from the weather?  I love watching the sea and taking its energy within, but respect the power it has to change dramatically when nature dictates.  The source of inspiration it contains for an artist is...

The Abstract

The Abstract The most difficult thing about creating a painting is finding the inspiration to make an original and inspired work of art, after all without inspiration an artist has nothing.  A painting in the abstract genre can be particularly challenging because to create a work of Abstract Art in either a 2D or 3D form, challenges my creative thinking the most. By definition abstract art does not depict a person, place or thing in the natural world, even in an extremely distorted or exaggerated way.  The subject of the work is based on what you see or feel using colour, shapes, brushstrokes, size,...

Spanish Landscapes

Spanish Landscapes The Spanish Landscape is continually changing. Whether it be the magnificent sunlight influencing the colours or the seasons as they change so dramatically, every day can bring a new and wonderful challenge to the artist. This gallery of abstract and semi abstract landscape paintings have been painted during the different seasons usually  ‘en plein air’ or from studies which I then work on back in the studio on to large canvases.   Pintura Rapida Landscape Alcaudete Secret creatures and cycle tracks – Mixed Media on paper Old Spanish Olive Tree – oil on canvas...

Spiritual Exploration

Spiritual Exploration The inspiration for this gallery of paintings came through a deep and profound visual experience I had receiving a Reiki healing session.   Dynamic colours and shapes filled my mind as these exciting visions fuelled my creativity and the images just came flooding out of me and onto the paper. They are painted mainly in watercolour or oil paints and now hang as a collection of works at the Longhill Wellness Centre, Ascot, Berkshire, UK   http://www.yogaandreiki.co.uk/yoga-berkshire/# Enlightenment 1 – a spiritual awakening Enlightenment 2 Contemplation Karma 1 – cause and effect...

Intuitive Art

Intuitive Art Art is a therapy in itself and I believe that the artistic and creative processes are crucial to our holistic well being.  Intuitive Art, sometimes called Intuitive Process Painting, is a very powerful spiritual and creative practice and will help you to transform your connection to your third eye or intuition, making it stronger.  By clearing the mind and painting without an ego you allow the piece to naturally emerge as the painting’s journey unfolds, changing with every layer.  It is a very exciting way to paint – oh and the use of a paintbrush is kept to the absolute minimum...

Moroccan Series

Moroccan Series A visit to Marrakesh, Morocco, inspired this collection of paintings.  I was particularly drawn towards the Archways everywhere and the Majorelle Garden, bursting with cactus and colour – particularly the vibrant shade known as Majorelle Blue. In 1924 the French artist Jacques Majorelle constructed his largest art work, theMajorelle Garden and painted the garden walls, fountains, features and villa this very intense shade of blue, for which he trademarked the name Majorelle Blue.  A very difficult colour to replicate. Mushrooms

Mushrooms ‘Without inspiration an artist has nothing, without this mushroom I am nothing.’ A mushroom grew outside my studio one day, it was large by normal fungi standards, and I set it aside for later observation.  Overnight it released its spores and the mushroom then became my paintbrush. This short series of work was created with fungi spores, oil paints and glazes which created some very unique and interesting responses to this fascinating medium. I hope it grows again next year ! The mushrooms used in the creation of this series Magic Mushrooms 1 – with glazes Magic Mushrooms...

Stairway to Heaven

Stairway to Heaven Stairway to Heaven This gallery was inspired by Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’ from the Led Zeppelin 4 album. Painted with oil paints, some mixed media, golds and glazes on canvas, these paintings have been exhibited in Granada, Spain at the annual FIARTE exhibition.     Stairway to Heaven Stairway to Heaven The Piper’s calling you to join him Peace – All are one and one is all A new day will dawn for those who stand long Shadows taller than our soul If there’s a bustle in your hedgerow – dont be alarmed now Spring clean for the May...
