Female Contemporary Portrait

Collision creates cracks
Opposition, friction, fire

An eruption of passion
As voices clamber to be heard
And then
The stirring of the storm
The winds of change are chasing you
You run but the rain wraps you in its pelting charm
The earth becomes sodden, it gets harder to move
And suddenly the sky commands your attention
With a crack
And a flash
A howl of surprise escapes your throat
Your cells awaken to an alarm call of exhilaration
You howl again
But this time from the pit of your belly
A primal sound
And with its release some ancient pain leaves your body

Arms up
Head back
Hair feral
Another crack splits the sky
And you see the way out
But just for a while
You were wild
